The day, in order
- Morning
Kiyomizu-dera, then the nearby slope streets
Choose Kiyomizu-dera as the main visit, checking its admission and access separately. Continue through the Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka streets when conditions suit, leaving room for residents and people visiting religious places.

Eat in the area
Choose a proper break instead of crossing Kyoto for lunch and immediately coming back. A nearby meal keeps the day coherent.
Read the related guide → - Afternoon
Continue toward Yasaka Shrine if you want more Optional
Stay in eastern Kyoto and continue toward the Yasaka Shrine area rather than crossing to Arashiyama. Use public streets, respect private lanes and drop this extension if the slopes have already made a full outing.
- Evening
Return before making a new commitment Optional
Leave the next meal or a riverside pause open. A reserved dinner deserves its own travel buffer.
Make it lighter
Keep the first area and the meal break. The optional afternoon and evening sections can be removed; you do not need to hurry through everything to have a complete day.
If the weather changes
Shorten the walking section when surfaces are wet. Choose one suitable indoor visit only after checking its access and opening information.
Check before leaving
Kiyomizu-dera, surrounding streets and individual shops are different places with different conditions. Respect private lanes and photography notices.
